Booking & Payments

How do I book a safari with Jadan?

Browse our packages, select the one you want, and click "View & Book". Fill in your travel details — dates, guests, any add-ons — choose either a deposit or full payment, then pay securely via M-Pesa, Visa, or Mastercard through Pesapal. You'll receive a confirmation email instantly.

You can also reach us on WhatsApp if you'd prefer to book over a conversation.

How much deposit do I need to pay?

Most packages require a 30% deposit to secure your booking, with the remaining 70% due 30 days before your departure date. Some short-notice bookings (within 30 days of travel) require full payment at checkout.

The exact deposit percentage is displayed on every package page before you proceed to payment.

What payment methods do you accept?

All payments are processed securely through Pesapal, which supports:

  • M-Pesa (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda)
  • Visa & Mastercard (debit or credit)
  • Airtel Money

All transactions are encrypted. We never store your card details on our servers.

Is it safe to pay online?

Yes. Payments are processed by Pesapal, a PCI-DSS-compliant gateway used across East Africa for over a decade. Your card data is handled entirely by Pesapal — we never see or store it.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking at least 3 months in advance for peak-season safaris (July–October, December–January). For the Great Migration crossings in particular, lodges fill up 6–9 months ahead.

Last-minute bookings (within 2 weeks) can sometimes be accommodated — contact us and we'll check availability.

Can I pay the balance in instalments?

The standard schedule is a 30% deposit now and the balance 30 days before travel. We can discuss a custom payment plan for groups or high-value bookings — just get in touch before checkout.

Tours & Packages

What's included in a safari package?

Each package page lists exactly what's included, but most Jadan packages cover:

  • All game drives and park entrance fees
  • Full-board accommodation (lodge or tented camp)
  • Airport transfers in a safari vehicle
  • An experienced English-speaking guide
  • A 24/7 on-trip support contact

International flights, visas, travel insurance, and personal items are typically not included unless stated. Optional add-ons (balloon safaris, bush dinners, etc.) can be added at checkout.

Can I customise an existing package?

Absolutely. Use our custom trip planner or WhatsApp us directly. You can change the number of nights, swap accommodations, add destinations, request a specific guide, and more. Every Jadan trip can be tailored.

What is the minimum age for safaris?

Children are welcome on most of our safaris. The practical minimum for game drives is around 5–6 years old — young enough to appreciate wildlife but old enough to stay quiet in a vehicle. Some exclusive camps have a minimum age of 12; this is noted on those package pages.

Do you operate private or shared safaris?

All Jadan packages are private — your vehicle and guide are exclusively yours for the duration. We don't mix strangers in the same vehicle. This gives you the flexibility to linger at a sighting, adjust timing, and get a fully personalised experience.

What is the best time of year to visit?

July–October is the dry season and peak safari season — vegetation is low, wildlife is concentrated around water, and the Great Migration river crossings happen in August–September.

January–March offers excellent game viewing at lower prices, with fewer tourists.

East Africa has wildlife year-round; the "best" time depends on what you most want to see. Our consultants can advise based on your preferences.

Preparing to Travel

Do I need a visa to visit Kenya?

Kenya operates an eVisa system. Most nationalities can apply online at evisa.go.ke before travel. Tanzania has a similar e-Visa portal. Processing usually takes 2–3 business days.

We send a detailed visa guide in your pre-departure pack after booking.

What vaccinations are required?

A Yellow Fever certificate is required if you are arriving from a Yellow Fever endemic country. Malaria prophylaxis is strongly recommended for all safari destinations. Up-to-date tetanus and hepatitis A/B vaccines are advisable.

Always consult a travel health clinic 4–6 weeks before departure for personalised advice.

What should I pack for a safari?

Keep it light and neutral-coloured. Key essentials:

  • Lightweight, earth-toned clothing (khaki, olive, beige)
  • Warm layer for early morning drives — it gets cold at altitude
  • Sunscreen SPF 50+, hat, and sunglasses
  • Quality binoculars
  • Insect repellent with DEET
  • Camera (or a good phone lens)
  • Comfortable walking shoes

Most lodges offer laundry. You won't need much — the less you carry, the lighter the adventure.

Is travel insurance required?

We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical evacuation, trip cancellation, and personal liability. Medical evacuation from remote safari areas can cost tens of thousands of dollars without insurance.

We can recommend trusted insurers if needed — ask your consultant after booking.

Guides & Vehicles

Are your guides certified and licensed?

All Jadan guides hold valid Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) guide licences and have completed certified wilderness first-aid training. Most have 5–15+ years of experience guiding in specific regions and are specialists in particular wildlife (big cats, birds, primates, etc.).

Can I request a specific guide?

Yes. Browse our Tour Guides page, pick the guide you'd like, and contact us before or at checkout. We'll assign your preferred guide if they're available for your dates.

What type of vehicles do you use?

Our fleet includes pop-top safari vans, Toyota Land Cruisers with roof hatches, and 4×4 SUVs. All vehicles are:

  • Regularly serviced and safety-inspected
  • Equipped with charging ports and first aid kits
  • Maximum 6–7 passengers (so everyone gets a window seat)

View the full fleet on our Car Hire page.

Can I hire a vehicle without a driver?

Select vehicles in our fleet are available for self-drive within Kenya, subject to a valid international driving licence and a security deposit. Note that self-driving inside national parks requires you to follow strict rules — an experienced driver-guide is always the safer, richer option for first-time visitors.

Cancellations & Refunds

What is your cancellation policy?

Our standard cancellation policy:

  • 60+ days before travel: full refund minus a 5% processing fee
  • 30–59 days before travel: 50% refund of total paid
  • 15–29 days before travel: 25% refund of total paid
  • Under 14 days: no refund (costs are committed to suppliers)

We always recommend purchasing travel insurance to cover unforeseen cancellations.

How do I request a cancellation or date change?

Email us at info@jadansafaris.co.ke or WhatsApp us with your booking reference. We process all requests within 1 business day. Date changes (same package, different dates) are subject to availability and a KES 2,500 amendment fee.

What happens if Jadan cancels my trip?

In the unlikely event that we must cancel due to circumstances beyond our control (severe weather, park closure, safety advisories), you will receive a full refund or a credit note valid for 24 months — your choice.
